A Mutual Consent Registry is a state run registry that is independent of adoption agencies or attorneys. Utah Mutal Consent Registry
The Utah Mutual Consent Registry makes it possible for birth parents and adoptees to be reunited when the adoptee is 18 years of age. Contact will be possible through this resource only if both the adoptee and birth parent register. This registry is independent of any private agency, it is run by the State of Utah. The Social and Health History of the birth mother and birth father are filed with Utah Vital Statistics. The papers will be available as part of the Utah Mutual Consent Registry. For birth mothers; you may select whether or not you wish to have information that will identify you or the birth father disclosed. If you indicate you don’t want to disclose the birthfather or have the child know your name then only non-identifying information will be shared.
Birth Parents: If your child is born in Utah, Heart to Heart will pay for and register you on the Utah Mutual Consent Registry if you choose and you would like to do this. An original birth certificate is needed to do this. Adoptive Parents: By signing the Openness Agreement included in the placement papers you are promising to inform your child of the Utah Mutual Consent Registry, if in fact the baby was born in Utah, so that he/she can register when they turn 18 if they choose to to do so.
