The cost to apply with Heart to Heart Adoptions is $500.  We keep the upfront cost low to enable families to apply with multiple agencies.

The following is covered in out flat fee of $46,000

  • Advertising for a situation
  • Profile posting on our website and Adoption.com
  • All birth mother's pregnancy related expenses
  • Birth parent travel expenses
  • Birth parent case management and counseling
  • Birth mother support after placement
  • Profile presentation and matching
  • Adoptive Family support throughout pregnancy, delivery, placement and finalization
  • Agency overhead

There are two possible extra charges: Medical Costs or Legal Expenses

Medical Expenses: Medical expenses are covered if she has insurance or is on Medicaid.  If not otherwise covered, the cost for delivery and hospital stay can range from $3k to $12k.  In some cases where the medical fees are a signficant burden on the family, they can request a medical subsidy from $1,000 to $6,000.

Legal Expenses:  Medical expenses are covered  is she has insurance or is on Medicaid.  If not otherwise covered, the cost for delivery and hospital stay can range from $3k to $12k.  In some cases where the medical fees are a significant burden on the family, they can request a medical subsidy from $1000 to $6000.

Adoption Grants:  There are families who can't afford to pay $46,000 for an adoption but are otherwise financially secure.  We have set up a grant program that can help pay from $1,000 to up to $10,000 of their agency fee.  To qualify for the grant, the adoptive family will provide additional information on the family finances and circumstances.  They grant is approved based upon need, availability of funds, and other factors.

Please contribute, if you can:  There are many families who can easily pay the full adoption fee and still help out others who cannot.  We plead with families who can afford it, to contribute to this program and assist other families to also adopt.

What if the Adoption Doesn't Go Through

If you are matched with a situation and the birthmother decided not to place the child for adoption with you, 10% of the adoption fee will be retained by the agency to help cover the cost of caring for her.  The res of what you paid will be rolled over to a new situation.

We are often asked how frequently that happens.  When the birthmother comes to Utah, only about 1 in 15 will decide to parent after she is matched with an adoptive family.  When the birthmother decides to stay in her home state, about 1 in 5 will decide to parent after she is matched.
